Situation

Marshall is synonymous with rock n’ roll, guitars, and loud music. When Marshall Headphones partnered with Marshall Amps to release new Bluetooth speakers, the goal was to leverage loyal Marshall fans and gain new fans in the audiophile, men’s lifestyle and fashion sectors.

Strategy

MBA focused on aggressive media relations efforts, leveraging Marshall’s partnership with John Varvatos and its limited Steel Series and Acton Oxblood editions, to create pitch angles that spoke to a more fashion-forward audience.

Results

  • Successfully placed the Marshall headphones and speakers in men’s lifestyle and fashion outlets such as Men’s Journal, MAXIM, Rolling Stone and Yahoo! Style
  • Expanded men’s lifestyle coverage in women’s interest fashion publications, earning placements in outlets such as BUSTLE, POPSUGAR and Cosmopolitan
  • Maximized audiophile coverage in top tier tech outlets and refined messaging that Marshall wasn’t just for rock n’ roll, but for every music genre. Notable placements have included The Wirecutter awarding the Marshall Mode earbuds its number one choice for headphones under $100, outlets such as Tom’s Guide, PCMag and Best Products including them in their “best of” speaker round-ups, and positive standalone in-depth product reviews on Engadget, CNET and Digital Trends
